Global Partners are a team of church volunteers, whose main focus is to promote knowledge and interest in various global and local mission opportunities. We meet four times a year to discuss specific requests for funding of missions and/or projects leading to or supporting missionary work.
Once a month, during the church service, a volunteer from our group leads the weekly intercessory prayer session, and focuses this prayer time on missionaries and their situations at home and abroad. Every month, some of our members visit Auckland Prison to conduct “a service” there. Being a Global Partners team member is open to any of church members with a heart for mission or a desire to assist in spreading the Gospel. If you have any questions or would like to join the team, get in touch with Chris Naylor at Chris.Naylor886@hotmail.com.
At 2pm on the third Thursday of each month a group meets at the church under the name of Baptist Missionary Fellowship (BMF). We meet to pray for, and keep up to date with, the work of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and the practical application of God’s love for the world.
Our aim is to have a guest speaker at each meeting, and we are always on the look-out for someone with a story to share. Our programme consists of a speaker, prayer time and an opportunity to chat over a cup of tea/coffee. We would love to have you join us. If you would like any more information please call Helen on 09 473 8516 or 021 180 2107.
In addition to the portion of our annual tithing that goes to mission organisations (see Global Partners above), there are a number of annual appeals that we as a church get behind.
Prayer & Self Denial and Christmas Angel are the first two, and both support mission work being done in South East Asia by NZBMS (the missionary arm of Baptist Churches NZ).
A second Christmas appeal we participate in is Angel Tree Christmas, which is done in partnership with Prison Fellowship Aotearoa – He Korowai Whakapono and facilitates children, who have a parent in prison, to receive a Christmas gift from their parent.
