Mainly Music is a music group for parents or primary care givers to enjoy together with their young child. which is run by a friendly team of volunteers from our church. The fun of music and movement encourages young children in the development of gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills and socialising with others. As well as introducing the children to music, creativity and more, families are given a chance to think about God.
After music we enjoy a morning tea and play time. If your child is in this age group, our friendly team of church volunteers would love to welcome you.
Keep up to date by joining our Mainly Music Facebook Group.

Children’s Ark cares for babies right through to pre-schoolers, with three separate rooms and outdoor areas, all specifically designed to cater to our different age groups. We have worked closely with the Ministry of Education to create stimulating, challenging, creative environments for all our children. We have 100% qualified teachers, and more than the minimum ratio of teachers to students that MoE requires.
We are all about natural resources that stretch the imagination and use open-ended play. At the heart of our teaching practice, we value and share our Christian faith by upholding Christian values and beliefs.
Come and visit us, or email Sue (Centre Manager) or Spela (Administrator) if you are interested in registering your child. Take a look at The Children’s Ark website or Facebook Page for more information.
Those early weeks with a new baby can be really challenging – and many mums in our area do not have family support nearby, making it even more difficult. In partnership with our local Plunket, volunteers from both church and community prepare heat ‘n’ eat meals that are frozen ready to distribute to local families. Delivery is overseen by the Torbay Plunket nurse and the Plunket Committee volunteers.
How can I support this ministry?
Help with donations, fundraising or doing the cooking is always welcome. Please get in touch with Elizabeth Kostelijk if you would like to support.
We have been on hold since COVID. We hope to return soon!
Holiday Club is a highlight in our year and is eagerly anticipated by many of the children who have attended before. Over the course of 5 mornings there is a bible theme which is presented through stories, songs and games. There are also loads of fun activities including face painting, crafts, dancing, messy games and challenges.
